    buckwheat is one of the staples and cheapest foods (around 0.25 US a pound) here in Russia, Ukraine and other post Soviet countries – my favorite – a great way to stay healthy on a budget – plus, take less than 10 minutes to cook

    Whey powder? Would that be protein powder? thats not a really good protein. Sun warrior raw/vegan brown rice protein is a really high quality one and yes it matters.

    i might have missed it but you didnt mention rutin, which is alson in buckwheat and its a glucoside and it strenghtens capillary walls and increases microcirculation :)

  13. yessyoyo says:

    Just wondering how do cook buckwheat?any idea to cook it..?

  14. gojiberries1 says:

    @lextastic

    Thankyou for confirming what I was thinking. This was a good video, but Rutin is an important factor about buckwheat which makes it so healthy.
    Also, buckwheat has 30% of all the calcuim you need for the day. Rose Hips is also high in the amazing Rutin.

  15. grzzzegorzzz says:

    same as rice

  16. lukewarmguy says:

    Great video. Definitely going to try some buckwheat pasta (soba) and maybe some buckwheat pancakes. I love that it’s gluten-free.

    This video goes well with the video about the Japan vs. USA diet.

    How healthy is Oat Bran? I have “Quacker” Oat Bran and “Bob’s Red Mill Oat Bran. They both feel different, (when dry) the Quacker is real soft almost feels “floury”, and Bob’s Red Mill feels more “gritty”

    Great information thank you so much!

  21. EMOTIONALLOGICABLE says:

    buckwheat helps regulate blood sugar because it’s high in fiber, there are many fruits that are good for you but are still high on the glycemic index. They used to sell buckwheat pancakes just in health food stores. I think today they sell it in supermarkets.
